On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched a mission that would change history. On the beaches of Normandy, France, American forces joined with other Allied nations to turn the tides of WWII. It is one of the most remembered events in history.
On June 6, 2013, the Silent Wings Museum will commemorate that historic battle with a all-day event. The event will include the appearance of a C-47 and a B-25. Refreshments, a temporary patch display, children's activities, and a special documentary are included as well.
There are several shifts available for volunteers. They are as follows:
10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (lunch provided)
12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Two to three volunteers are needed each shift to help set up, maintain, and take down the event. You are welcome to stay for more than one shift if you would like.
Responsibilities include greeting and directing visitors, maintaing refreshments, and cleaning up after the event. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and able to pass a drug screen. This opportunity does not fulfill court mandated community service. Jeans and polo shirts are welcome. Bring a friend and have a blast!
