This is a free admission day honoring the WWII war effort at home, with an exhibit opening, children's activities, curator's tours, and a panel of Airforce women; special guests from Cannon Air Force Base who will speak about their unique roles in today’s United States Air Force, sharing how they have stepped forward to answer the call to duty, serving honorably in defense of all the World War II generation held dear.
As you can imagine, we are excited to share this with Lubbock and our surrounding communities. But we need help!
It is our plan to have:
A Maker's Space for families where they will discover what rationing and recycling in the 1940's looked like and, where they will be able to create a toy or craft using repurposed items.
A WAC Doll station where children can color and create paper dolls from the time period.
A card station where families can write Thank You notes to our service people.
A selfie-station where people can take pictures to remember their time here.
The activities will last from 10am to 4pm and we need more people to make this happen. Would you be available to help us out? We have shifts lasting from 10am - 4pm or in 2-hour increments. If you are available, we sure could use you!
