NAMI Lubbock is seeking Connection Recovery Support Group facilitators. This is volunteer position and helps to facilitate monthly meetings of individuals who have a mental health condition.
NAMI Lubbock is the Lubbock Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness which provides support, education, and advocacy for people living with a mental illness and their family and friends. NAMI Lubbock operates as a “Model B” affiliate under the umbrella of NAMI Texas.
Qualifications for support group facilitators:
- Facilitators are adults in recovery with a mental health condition
- Facilitators must be a NAMI member before training
- Prospective facilitators will attend a weekend long facilitator training in order to be trained in how to facilitate a NAMI support group.
As a requirement for this role, the interested individual MUST attend at least two NAMI support group sessions before undergoing training to be a facilitator. After the individual is trained to be a facilitator, the ongoing monthly commitment would be to co-facilitate a 1.5 hour support group 1 to 2 times per month.
