Refuge Services is a nonprofit organization based in Lubbock that provides equine-assisted therapies designed to support the whole person- body, mind, and spirit. Founded in 1999, Refuge offers services such as hippotherapy, therapeutic riding, and equine-assisted psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults in a safe, supportive, and Christian environment.
Through the unique partnership between clients, licensed professionals, and horses, individuals are able to work on physical, emotional, cognitive, and relational goals in ways that often go beyond traditional therapy. Refuge Services is committed to helping individuals and families overcome challenges, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and experience meaningful growth and healing.
As a volunteer, you might:
Assist during client sessions alongside instructors and therapists
Help care for our horses and maintain stalls and arenas
Support behind-the-scenes needs to keep our facility running smoothly
Be part of creating a welcoming, uplifting space for families and clients
Every role plays a part in changing lives- and no experience with horses is required, just a willing heart.
Hours of Operation:
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Closed weekends
