The “Vamos a Pescar, Let’s Go Fishing” event in Lubbock, Texas uses fishing as a hook to bring families together. The event is free, does not require a fishing license, no registration fee, and no cost for lunch – as to not hinder families, or discourage their participation in the event. In 2009, the event drew 1,800 participants. In 2019, the fishing event grew to almost 5000 participants. Our 15th Annual event will be on Sat., August 3, 2024! We will be celebrating our quinceanera!
Volunteer Opportunities
Event Week Dates:
- July 31, 2024 - Lake Cleanup – Time: 6 p.m.
- August 1, 2024 – Prepare Bags at 5:30 p.m., Landwer Party House
- August 2, 2024 – Set Up at 5:30 p.m., followed by Volunteer Dinner
- August 3, 2024 – 15th Annual “Vamos a Pescar, Let’s Go Fishing” Event
- Volunteer Shift Times:
- All Day
- 4:00 a.m. - 10 a.m.
- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Volunteers will be placed at various stations and are vital to this event.
- The last shift is very important as volunteers from previous shifts are tired from the day.
