The YWCA of Lubbock is hosting a Girls Just Wanna... Be Represented: Wine & Cheese gathering for women interested in a follow-up discussion regarding the need for representation in state and local government. We will be discussing board and committee vacancies at local organizations and other ways in which to get involved in your community.
This is a come as you are event, on Thursday September 2nd from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the YWCA on University.
Girls Just Wanna... is a new series from the YWCA, aimed at tackling the issues facing women in our community today. Our first Girls Just Wanna..., focused on representation in government with discussions surrounding available resources for those interested in running for office, as well as insight from local and former City of Lubbock representatives.
As of today, women in the U.S. make up 51% of the population, yet only 31% of individuals in elected officers are female. Join us to learn more about what you can do to boost the level of representation in your government!
