High Plains Skate Foundation

Who We Are

High Plains Skate Foundation started with a pretty simple idea: Lubbock deserves better skateparks.

Most of us have been riding here for years. Our founders are two lifelong skateboarders. We've watched generations of skateboarders, BMXers, and rollerbladers/skaters come through the same parks, dealt with the same maintenance issues, and seen the community continue to grow despite having very little investment in the spaces built for it.

We started HPSF because we got tired of waiting around for somebody else to care about these parks as much as the people who use them every day.

Our immediate focus is taking care of what we already have. That means helping improve existing parks, supporting maintenance and stewardship efforts, organizing community involvement, and working with local partners to make sure these spaces remain safe, welcoming, and usable.

At the same time, we're working toward a larger vision for skateboarding in the High Plains. We believe Lubbock needs more and better skatepark space, and a system of parks that reflects the size and growth of the community. That includes neighborhood-scale parks, improvements to existing facilities, and eventually a regional destination skatepark that can serve riders from across West Texas.

High Plains Skate Foundation is committed to growing skateboarding throughout the High Plains region by making it more accessible, welcoming, and connected. As the organization grows, we hope to offer beginner clinics, youth programming, mentorship opportunities, equipment assistance, and community events that help introduce new people to skateboarding and support those already involved.

We also want to create opportunities that encourage participation from groups that have historically been underrepresented in action sports. Our goal is simple: make skateboarding more accessible, help people find community, and ensure everyone feels welcome at the park.

Skateboarding is for everyone.

What We Do

High Plains Skate Foundation works to improve and expand skateboarding opportunities throughout the High Plains region. Our work focuses on four main areas:

Skatepark Stewardship

Supporting the maintenance, improvement, and long-term sustainability of existing skateparks.

Advocacy & Development

Working with community leaders, local organizations, and public agencies to advocate for new skateparks and improvements to existing facilities.

Community Building

Organizing events, volunteer opportunities, and outreach efforts that strengthen connections within the skateboarding community and encourage civic involvement.

Youth & Outreach Programs

Creating opportunities for new skaters, young people, and underrepresented groups to access skateboarding, build confidence, develop skills, and find community.

We believe skateparks are more than recreational facilities—they are community spaces that foster creativity, physical activity, mentorship, and a sense of belonging.
