Alström Angels is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for Alström Syndrome genetic and medical research, increasing awareness of the rare disease amongst the general public and medical communities, and bettering family support for those affected by the Syndrome.
Since one symptom of Alstrom Symdrome is loss of sight, Alstrom Angels will be hosting Lubbock's first-ever Easter Egg hunt for all vision-impaired children. This "beeping" Egg Hunt will be part of an community event from 1-4 pm for all families to enjoy! Sighted children will be given blindfolds to participate in the hunt, so they can experience what it's like to hunt eggs without vision. There also be areas to hit beeping baseballs, a petting zoo, face painting and bounce houses.
Volunteers are needed at Maxey Park from 11:30am-5pm. Volunteers will help with the various activies throughout the afternoon, as well as with set-up and clean-up. Every volunteer will receive lunch and an event t-shirt!
