Volunteer Services Council for the Lubbock State Supported Living Center (LbSSLC) is in need of member's and board members. Our organization support's the residents who call LbSSLC home. We serve approximately 204 resident's in the age range of 18-85. Our population consists of resident's who have intellectual and or physical disabilities. The VSC goal is support the resident's beyond what the State provides. Everyone is welcome to these meetings, and any ideas, volunteering, membership or support of any kind is welcomed! 

Volunteer Services Council meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday of each month at Schlotzky's Deli  3715 19th St, Lubbock, Tx 79410

South Plains Food Bank offers meaningful ways for individuals, families, students, and groups to serve through hands-on hunger relief efforts. From warehouse support to food distribution and seasonal projects, every volunteer helps move food and hope to neighbors who need it most.

A monthly outreach, on the first Thursday of each month:  a resource event providing on-site services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Bringing together in one place service providers, community organizations, and volunteers to meet people where they are.

Volunteers Needed:

Table-hosts and Connectors (help assess needs, act as a guide or escort for each individual/family to connect them to appropriate providers at the event); set up/clean up, meal servers needed.  CommUNITY Dayis a great volunteer opportunity for groups (business, church, friends, family) and individuals.  

Youth recruiter: Develop and implement strategies to attract and enroll youth in programs, which can include marketing, community outreach, and building relationships with schools and community organizations.

The South Plains food bank is REALLY needing Saturday volunteers! Please use the link to sign up - they only have 12 people signed up so far. 

○ Researching and contacting potential venues.
○ Assisting with the creation of event timelines and schedules.
○ Coordinating catering and other vendor services.
○ Managing event registration and attendee lists.
○ Providing on-site support during events, such as setting up registration
tables or directing attendees.
○ Handling post-event tasks, such as compiling event reports and
managing invoices.
○ Ensuring the availability of necessary tools and materials.
○ Participating in events and potentially collaborating with others
involved in the organization.

The Salvation Army has a couple of volunteer needs in their Thrift Store in Plainview. They are needing volunteers to help with various things throughout the store. They are also needing volunteers in their clothing closet donation center in Lubbock.

Looking to help improve our Website, Social Media presence and flyers

We are in need of volunteers to help staff our Family Rooms at Covenant Children's Hospital and UMC

Our family rooms are an extension of our house, with one located inside each hospital. Here families can use this space to rest and recharge, steps away from their child's bedside. Families are provided with snacks, and a quiet, peaceful environment with shower and laundry facilities. We depend on our volunteers to keep these rooms open, so families may have access to it when needed.

All five of our Clubs compete against each other in flag football, volleyball , basketball and soccer.  It is time for 6-8 year old co-ed leagues.  All Clubs need coaches for practice and games.  Contact any club to sign up to coach a team.

Volunteer drivers, both regular and substitute, are needed each weekday to deliver meals. You do not need to commit to a set schedule to volunteer for LMOW. Some drivers prefer to take the same route on the same day each week whereas others prefer to just substitute when needed. For many of our clients, the LMOW volunteer may be the only person they see during the day. That daily human contact is just as important as the nutritious meal they are receiving. Each route takes approximately 1 hour to deliver. Most routes have 10 – 16 clients. A background check and one hour orientation is required for all delivery volunteers.

Delivery volunteer opportunities are available from 10:45 am – Noon, Monday – Friday.  Non-delivery volunteer opportunities are available throughout the day Monday through Friday.
