Shine On Support Team

The Shine On Support Team helps ensure the conference ends as successfully as it begins. This team is responsible for event breakdown, packing supplies, removing décor, and restoring the venue after the conference concludes.

Their dedication behind the scenes helps prepare for future events while leaving the venue in excellent condition. This role is ideal for dependable volunteers who enjoy hands-on work and are willing to stay until the final task is complete.

Responsibilities: Remove decorations, signage, balloons, and displays.

Pack conference supplies, registration materials, and equipment.

Assist vendors, exhibitors, and speakers as they depart.

Collect lost and found items for conference leadership.

Ensure meeting rooms and common areas are clean and organized.

Assist with loading vehicles and organizing supplies for storage.

Work together to complete event wrap-up safely and efficiently.

Every successful event depends on volunteers who stay until the very end.

Your service helps ensure we leave the venue with the same excellence and care that welcomed every guest, allowing the Uplift & Inspire Women's Conference to continue making a lasting impact for years to come.

Event Setup & Décor Team (Monday Before the Conference)

The Event Setup & Décor Team helps transform the venue into a welcoming and inspiring space before attendees arrive. Working alongside the event leadership team, volunteers will assist with decorating, organizing materials, setting up signage, preparing registration areas, arranging breakout rooms, and ensuring every detail is in place for conference day.

This role is perfect for volunteers who enjoy hands-on projects, decorating, organizing, and working as part of a team. No special experience is required—just a positive attitude and a willingness to help.

Responsibilities include:

Set up event décor, centerpieces, balloons, and displays.
Arrange registration, vendor, and information areas.
Place signage, directional materials, and event branding throughout the venue.
Assist with room setup for breakout sessions and common areas.
Organize attendee materials, speaker gifts, and volunteer supplies.
Help with final venue walkthroughs to ensure everything is conference-ready.
Work collaboratively with other volunteers and committee members to complete setup efficiently.

By joining the Event Setup & Décor Team, you'll help create the first impression for every attendee. Your efforts will ensure the conference is beautiful, organized, and ready to inspire from the moment guests walk through the doors.

We are excited to introduce our new program, “Weekend Workshops.” This pilot program will combine the ideas of Afternoon Enrichment classes and Respite nights. Workshops will take place once a month on a Saturday morning from 9:00am-12:00pm. Each will have an enriching or prevocational theme similar to AEC classes like woodworking, art, sports & fun, etc. Every year, there will be four workshops designated for kids ages 8-17, four designated for adults ages 18+, and four designated for all ages. Recurring volunteers are a vital part of the work we do at Open Door. Whether serving weekly or monthly recurring volunteers help create consistency, build relationships, and meet ongoing practical needs throughout our ministry. Opportunities may include organizing donations, preparing spaces, serving community members, helping with community projects, administrative support, and more. We believe meaningful change happens through consistent presence, and recurring volunteers play a huge role in making that possible.

Our campus is home to group residential cottages where children live and are cared for 24/7 by dedicated Houseparent's.

Preparing meals for a large group three times a day is no small task, and a shared meal can mean more than just nourishment—it creates space for rest, connection, and relationship-building.

You can make a meaningful difference by providing a meal, dessert, or restaurant gift card. Your generosity gives our Houseparent's a much-needed break and allows them to focus more fully on the children in their care.

How You Can Help

1. Cook in Our Kitchen - Use our newly renovated kitchen to prepare a meal onsite with your own ingredients.

2. Bring a Fully Prepared Meal - Drop off a ready-to-serve meal for the children and Houseparent's to enjoy together.

3. Sponsor a Cottage Meal Experience - Deliver a meal directly to a cottage so families can eat together in their home or invite a cottage to dine with your group in our shared dining area.

Timing & Availability

Volunteers may arrive as early as 4:00 PM Dinner is typically served between 5:30–6:00 PM

Meals can be scheduled any night of the week (Thursdays & Fridays work best).

If you’d like to bless one of our cottages with a meal, we would love to hear from you. Thank you for helping create moments of rest, connection, and care.

Volunteers are needed to sew and/or decorate stockings from home,  February to November.

LHUCA invites volunteers for First Friday Art Trail! FFAT is a LHUCA's program, held on the first Friday of every month in collaboration with more than 20 art venues in the Lubbock Cultural District.

Volunteers will be issued a LHUCA Volunteer Badge and help in a number of areas including:

event set-up | art activities | gallery monitoring | LHUCA campus operations | and more!

Volunteering for LHUCA is a fantastic way to become involved and connected in the local arts community!

Volunteer Requirements:

·         An adult must always accompany volunteers under 16.

·         Any volunteer, 18 years and over, is required to have a criminal background check done.  The volunteer agrees to pay a processing fee which is subject to change and will be discussed at the time the volunteer begins the application process.

·         All individual and group volunteers will be put through an orientation of their responsibilities before their time volunteering.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

In-House Cleaning: (Individuals or Group)

Ronald McDonald House is just that – a HOUSE.  We run much like your very own household…only time 17 because that’s how many rooms we have. We need volunteers to help with light household cleaning, organizing closets, separating donations, putting them away, and much more.  This is a great individual or group opportunity for volunteers of all ages. 

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms: (Individuals or Pairs)

Family Rooms are mini–Ronald McDonald Houses and offer all families (local and out-of-town) the opportunity to take a break from the stressful hospital environment.  Families are encouraged to come to the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and enjoy a warm, comfortable setting where they can relax and get something to eat or drink.  Volunteers are required to commit to a regular volunteer schedule and incur additional training.  This opportunity does require the volunteer to step up.  Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are staffed 100% by our volunteers.  When a shift is not covered, then we are forced to close the doors, thus denying families the services we provide.

Handy Person: (Individual or Group)

Are you a Mr. or Ms. Fix-it?  Then we need you!  Volunteers are asked to do light house maintenance.  This could be anything from changing lightbulbs to fixing a loose cabinet hinge. This can be on-call or prescheduled maintenance as needed.

Office Assistant: (Individual or Pairs)

These volunteers can commit to a scheduled or on-call service.  Some of the duties of a receptionist are to answer phones, open the door, do light housekeeping when needed, and inventory rooms of families checking out of the Ronald McDonald House. Depending on the volunteer’s interests and the needs of the Ronald McDonald House, other duties will also be requested of these volunteers.

Baking Buddies: (Individual or Group)

If you love to bake, we would love to have you use your talents in our kitchen!  There is nothing more “home-like” than the smell of freshly baked cookies.  This is a wonderful and fun way to incorporate children into the volunteer experience.

Guest Chef: (Individual or Group)

Guest Chefs help to feed the families at the Ronald McDonald House.  Schedule the meal, and bring the ingredients to our beautiful, warm kitchen, and cook the dinner together as a group!  We have four ovens, two cooktops, two microwaves, and lots of pots and pans to make cooking a snap!

Freezer Friends: (Individual or Group)

Freezer Friends help to fill our casserole freezer to feed our families when we do not have a guest chef provided.  Bring the ingredients and schedule a time to prepare the casseroles in our beautiful kitchen – or simply donate a store-bought casserole!

Donation Drivers: (Individual)

The Ronald McDonald House has vehicles that are used for transporting families to/from the hospital, going to pick up supplies, taking families for scheduled trips to Wal-Mart or a grocery store, etc. Drivers sign up for scheduled shifts and/or let us know when they are available for on-call needs to serve as a substitute for the scheduled driver.  You must be 21 years or older and have a good driving record.

Of course, you could primarily do mainly one of these jobs or sample all of them until you find what makes you happiest.  If you don’t see a job that appeals to your desires, then talk to the Programs Coordinator so we can find something that best utilizes your talents. [ emma@rmhcsouthwest ]
