Needs From: Volunteer Center of Lubbock

Childcare volunteers needed to create a fun and safe evening for children while parents enjoy a well-deserved night out! Volunteers will assist with activities, games, crafts, serving snacks or dinner, and helping supervise children. This is a great opportunity to encourage and support families while making the night enjoyable for every child attending.

Background checks may be required depending on volunteer roles.

Independence City is an empowering, immersive simulation event designed specifically for youth who are transitioning out of or have already aged out of the foster care system. This program provides a safe and supportive environment where participants can experience the realities of adult life, helping them develop essential life skills and gain confidence in their ability to navigate the challenges that lie ahead. Independence City is designed as a simulated town where participants can visit various locations representing real-life scenarios.

Volunteers will be assigned to a table that simulates a real-life scenario in adulthood. Things like the grocery store, bank, auto shop, and DMV. At their table, youth will come up to them and ask them various questions or help with a scenario they have been given. Volunteers will have instructions on how to help the youth and find the best solution for their problem.

The Family Hope Center provides families with support, encouragement, and resources as they work toward stability and growth. Through classes, coaching, and community gatherings, families are equipped with tools to build a stronger future

This volunteer opportunity supports parents while they attend required trainings and educational classes. These gatherings are an important part of equipping caregivers with the tools and encouragement they need to care well for children in their homes.

Volunteers will provide childcare during these sessions by engaging children in games, activities, and supervised play in a safe and welcoming environment. By caring for children during this time, volunteers help parents focus fully on learning, connection, and support

Because this role involves working directly with children, volunteers will be contacted to complete a background check and any other required steps before being eligible to serve in childcare roles. Our Volunteer Coordinator, Azurie Rodriguez, will work with you through this process and answer any questions along the way.

Join us for fun, creativity, and connection as we bring joy to kids during their spring break! As a volunteer, you’ll help lead games, crafts, and interactive activities, assist with set up and clean up, and help serve food to create a safe, welcoming environment.

Join us for our annual Family Fun Day! This community event is an opportunity for families to enjoy an evening of games, activities, and free food. Kids can play and explore, while parents and caregivers connect and learn more about Buckner programs and community resources. Volunteers will play an important role in creating a welcoming and joyful experience for all families, roles will include set up/clean up, facilitating games and activities, and helping serve food.

Every other month, families in the community can shop with dignity for the items they need most, from cleaning supplies and household essentials to personal care products

Volunteers play an important role in creating a positive experience by assisting families as they shop, restocking, and supporting staff throughout the event.

Did you end the holidays with extra wrapping paper, bows, bags, and boxes? We’d love to put it to good use! We’re collecting unused or gently used wrapping supplies left over from the holiday season.  Donated items will be used to wrap gifts for the children and families we serve, helping make their holiday season feel special and celebrated.

Your post-holiday donations help us stay stocked and ready for upcoming celebrations and holidays. What might be leftover in your closet can become part of a meaningful moment for a family in our programs.

Your donations help make this possible! Every contribution goes directly to supporting local families and keeping our market stocked.
