Family Volunteer Day in 2025 is on Saturday, November 22, 2025. It is a global day of service that occurs annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, encouraging families to work together on community service projects and make a positive impact on their communities.

“Respecting the dignity of every human being, no matter their need or physical condition, Lubbock Meals on Wheels will provide nutritious home-delivered meals to those who are homebound, elderly, or disabled. We shall seek to break the social isolation experienced by the homebound, by providing warm, caring, friendly contact through our volunteers.”
Lubbock Meals on Wheels, Inc. was founded in 1971. We provide home-delivered meals to eligible residents in Lubbock and Wolfforth. We currently serve over 1,000 people, delivering 77 routes each day.
Position

Serving as an integral member of the LMOW team, the development coordinator (DC) is responsible for helping the assistant director with the implementation of a fund raising and marketing/public relations plan. Plans, organizes, and executes fundraising and community events. Delivers presentations and engages with community groups and media. Maintains donor database system recording cash and non-cash contributions, provides all related correspondence, provides reports, and reviews this information with the accountant and assistant director. Works with volunteers and committees.

Must show strong initiative, confidence, and responsibility. Effective and experienced presenter in public and group settings. Comfortable engaging in interviews with local media. Must be able to learn quickly and manage multiple tasks in an effective manner. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to building a long-term career in the non-profit sector supported by a proven track record reflecting this dedication. The ideal candidate is someone seeking a lasting role.

Availability to start work as soon as possible is essential.

$42,000 - $50,000 salary (negotiable based on experience)

Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility for additional hours as required. (occasional nights/weekends)

Education, experience, and qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Public Relations, Social Service, or other related fields
• Extensive experience with public speaking
• Experience with non-profit organizations and working with volunteers preferred
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft products
• General bookkeeping experience preferred
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Must be insurable for automobile insurance and capable of driving a van

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with patient intake and documentation.

Maintain a clean and organized screening area.

Qualifications: Active or retired nursing license (RN, LPN, or equivalent). Experience in clinical or community health settings preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to patient confidentiality and professionalism. CPR certification is a plus.

Make a difference with Upbring by supporting our dedicated team! Volunteers will help staff welcome guests and escort them to appropriate Upbring staff, who are addressing medical needs. Your role as a greeter is important! You will be the first face our guests see, providing those in need with a warm smiling face! Your contribution ensures smooth operations and enhances the care we provide!

Lubbock Impact's Foundations of Healing Medical Clinic will provide you with all supplies needed to complete your duties. Please wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing (no shorts please).

Each month, Open Door provides essential hygiene support to 125 + households in our Supportive and Survivor Housing programs. These everyday items like soap, shampoo, and deodorant make a powerful difference in our neighbors' health, dignity, and confidence. But keeping our hygiene shelves full is always a challenge. That's where you come in! We would love for you to host a donation drive at your church, place of business, or with your friend group. Here are some of our most needed items.

You are welcome to deliver the hygiene items to our campus at 1918 13th street or give us a call and we'll do a porch pick-up. Thank you for your support of our work with people in poverty, homelessness, and sex trafficking.

Our volunteers help us in many different ways. From assisting clients during sessions to cleaning offices, arenas, and stalls, there is always something to do to help maintain a clean functioning atmosphere for our clients, their families, and our horses. The Refuge is open 8 am-7 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am-5 pm on Friday, we are closed on weekends.

Lubbock Roots Historical Arts Council and the Booker T. Washington Community Garden are looking for volunteers on our Saturday Work and Learn Days! In the summer we will be opening one Saturday a month in the morning to allow the community to come pick their own produce. We grow produce year round and were able to distribute 500 lbs of produce to the community in 2021.

On any given Saturday we will be building beds; moving mulch; planting seeds; trellising and maintaining plants; or harvesting produce!

It’s been more than two decades since 9/11/01. Honor and commemorate the sacrifices made that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others’ acts of service to defend our nation’s freedom. On 9/11 Day of Service, Americans of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join and lead community service projects to honor the lives and service of those we lost on September 11, 2001.

By inspiring millions of Americans and others to volunteer, donate to charities, and perform other good deeds and acts of kindness, 9/11 Day is a positive way for Americans to annually keep the promise to “Never Forget.” YSA offers eleven reflections and related project ideas to reimagine the date as one of engagement, service, and connection.

Shaun the Sheep™: Flock this Way! is our newest exhibition coming to Science Spectrum from September 20th, 2025-January 25th, 2026! We will need lots of volunteers to help us with this exhibit during museum hours!

Volunteers will be monitoring & resetting the interactive exhibits, and making sure the exhibition is calm!

Here are the shifts currently available each day during the run of the exhibition:

The Salvation Army has a couple of volunteer needs in their Thrift Store in Plainview. They are needing volunteers to help with various things throughout the store. They are also needing volunteers in their clothing closet donation center in Lubbock.

The Play It Safe program is designed for Pre-K through 12th Grade. Each grade level's interactive curriculum speaks to children in a way they can best learn and respond. It helps them recognize abusive behavior, even if it is someone they know and provides tools that children can use to be safe. 

Lubbock ISD and Frenship ISD schools are participating in the PLAY IT SAFE Program - VOLUNTEERS are needed to go into the schools and present the program to the students. Each presentation lasts about 45 minutes and includes an age appropriate script followed by a 10-20 minute movie.

***Volunteers will need to pass a three point background check and complete the volunteer training.***

Caring for up to 40 kids on our campus at any given time, basic supplies like paper towels are in high demand.  Help us restock our commissary and keep our campus clean.  Donations of paper towels can be dropped off at 4404 Idalou Rd.  Drive straight forward to the large parking lot and follow donation signs for guidance.  Call 806-762-0481 with any questions.  Thank you! 

Our Houseparents work hard day and night to make sure our kids receive the very best care. Cooking for a large group 3 times a day can get very tiresome. Making a meal, dessert, or giving them a gift card to a restaurant allows them to focus less on cooking and more on their relationships with the kids.

You can prepare a meal in our newly renovated kitchen using your own ingredients. Alternatively, you can bring a fully prepared meal for the children and their families to enjoy.

The Emergency Food Pantry at Catholic Charities serves a wide variety of community members, and with that variety comes the need for volunteers to help us maintain it.

Our food pantry is in need of assistance in the afternoons between 2 and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.  

Many of the items donated to us are from churches and local stores. We have canned goods, boxed goods, and hygiene products that need sorting and organizing. We also have freezers where we keep meats and other freezer goods, and those items need to be individually bagged and sorted as well.

We need your help getting our on-campus garage sale ready!  This is a great opportunity to pitch in, give back, meet new people, and earn volunteer hours.  We’re looking for volunteers to help with organizing, and sorting items.

Looking to help improve our Website, Social Media presence and flyers

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Graphic Designer to join our team for Lemonade Day, an engaging initiative that teaches children about entrepreneurship through the fun of running a lemonade stand. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating visually appealing designs that resonate with our target audience, including children, parents, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Brand Development:
- Ensure consistency in branding across all platforms and materials.

2. Marketing Materials:
- Create eye-catching flyers, posters, and brochures to promote Lemonade Day events and activities.
- Design social media graphics that engage our audience and increase participation.

3. Event Collateral:
- Develop signage, banners, and other promotional materials for Lemonade Day events.
- Create templates for newsletters and other communications.

4. Digital Content:
- Design graphics for our website and online platforms, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to produce digital content that enhances our online presence.

The Rainbow Room is always in need of groups and organizations to conduct item drives.

We stock new diapers, formula, socks, underwear, baby food, hygiene items, school supplies, new cribs, new car seats, gently-used/new clothing for children newborn to age 18. See our Facebook page or email us for details!

The Rainbow Room is an emergency resource room located at Child Protective Services. Caseworkers use the Rainbow Room to obtain emergency items to help children and families when they are removed from a dangerous situation. The Rainbow Room depends entirely on the community for needed items. 100% of any item donated. 

MEAL DELIVERY:  If you are looking for a warm, fuzzy feeling try delivering meals to the homebound, elderly or disabled of our community; it only takes about an hour.  There are approximately 12 to 15 meals per route. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday, but you can deliver as often or as little as you would like; once a week, once a month, substitute or permanent.

A brief orientation is required and you may complete your volunteer forms at lubbockmealsonwheels.org. 

Sometimes our volunteers are the only people our clients see.  Your visit is much more than just a meal, it is a friendly face checking on someone in need.  Join our volunteer family and make a difference.

We can always take gently-used clothing, toiletry items, and household items for all ages. We work to provide the children we serve with all their needs, all the way up until they move to living independently!

Contact us so we can make arrangements to have the items picked up or dropped off. Let us know if you would like to organize a drive and we can give you a list of items we are in need of at that time.

Volunteers/groups of any age are needed to write encouraging messages in Christmas cards for The Stockings Project. Messages can be written in new Christmas/Holiday Cards, or cards can be created from cardstock paper. These cards will be sent with Christmas Stockings to military members in November.

Donations of used Christmas cards for decorating are welcome.

Please donate new Christmas cards to the Stockings project. These Christmas cards, with encouraging messages written inside, will be stuffed inside of the stockings being sent to our US military.

Also, please save and donate any Christmas cards you have received to be used for decorating the stockings and making handmade cards.  Gold, silver, green, and red glitter glue is used to attach the pictures from the (used) Christmas cards onto the denim, or in making homemade cards. Donations of glitter glue would be very welcome!

Stock our Freezer - Our amazing volunteers and friends provide meals each day for the families that stay at the Ronald McDonald House. It takes away the worry and hassle of food preparation so that the families can give all of their energy and attention to their child.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, we have experienced a significant increase in the number of meals we need to serve through the Salvation Army. We need volunteers to assist with prepping meals in our kitchen. These meals go to our residents and those in the community that we support.

Individuals and groups are welcome.  We need volunteers everyday to help sort/bag produce, pack food boxes, take phone applications, meal prep in our beautiful state-of-the-art kitchen, assist clients picking up on the dock.  We even have an orchard and farm!  We have morning and afternoon shifts available and some Saturdays each month.  We provide a break during each shift which includes drinks/snacks and lunch for anyone working all day.  Please consider a regular (weekly/monthly) commitment if you can.

Have you seen our Community Fridges? They are visited by on average 15-20 people a day but, often the Fridges struggle to stay stocked. If you are able, we'd love to see the Fridge filled with some more food as we await grant funding to continue to keep them filled with good food. Qualifications for family support group facilitators:

As a requirement for this role, the interested individual MUST attend at least two NAMI support group sessions before undergoing training to be a facilitator. Our family rooms are an extension of our house, with one located inside each hospital. Here families can use this space to rest and recharge, steps away from their child's bedside. Families are provided with snacks, and a quiet, peaceful environment with shower and laundry facilities. We depend on our volunteers to keep these rooms open, so families may have access to it when needed.

We're on the lookout for ABE (adult basic education) volunteers to help teach our adult students how to read!  You'll be working one-on-one with a singular student to help them learn how to read.  Whether they've never learned before or have dsylexic tendencies that have prevented them from getting it, we have specialized curriculum to help.

Catholic Charities offers a Peer Parent Supporter that provides supplemental peer to peer support for parents in high risk and general population families with children between the ages of 0 & 17. Peer Parent Supporters assist parents with setting and achieving family strengthening goals. 

The objective of the Peer Parent Supporter is to provide all parents with resources to accomplish their individual goals toward strengthening their family.

Peer Parent Supporters are apart of Strengthening Families. The Strengthening Families Program is a 9-session, evidence-based parenting skills, children’s social skills, and family life skills training program specifically designed for high-risk and general population families. Peer Parent Supporters are also trained to co-facilitate these workshops.

Ranch Hosts
National Ranching Heritage Center

Ranch Hosts assist with education programs and special projects at the NRHC. They help bring the NRHC to life by enhancing learning opportunities available to visitors who come from throughout the United States and many foreign countries.

Ranch Hosts may serve as building docents and as participants in living history and educational programs, special events and projects, or other volunteer capacities. Membership is open to persons who volunteer their services, complete required training programs and are certified by the NRHC staff to carry out specific functions.

Two regular membership meetings are held each year, one in the spring (mandatory for new Ranch Hosts) and one in the fall. Officers of the Ranch Hosts board also may arrange additional training classes, meetings and field trips. To become a member of our award-winning Ranch Host program, please fill out our application and check the box that indicates your interest in the Ranch Host program. A member of the Ranch Host board will contact you after your application is processed.
