Gross...! Which is precisely the delighted reaction of kids and adults as they tour Grossology, The Impolite Science of the Human Body!
Based on the 1992 book by the same name, this science-in-disguise exhibit is the place where kids can get answers to many of the slimy, oozy, crusty, stinky questions they love to ask about the human body. With over 20 animated and animatronic interactive displays and games, kids and adults will learn about different systems and organs of the body that are responsible for things like; runny noses, sneezes, boogers, pimples, warts, scabs, vomit, burps, gas, food digestion, body odors, and more!
Volunteers in this exhibit will have the chance to perform two tasks; admissions monitoring and individual engagement. Learn along side the kids and challenge them to games of gas attack pinball or a game of surgery where you attempt to remove organs from a body without touching the sides of the patient! This volunteer experience can be fun for people of all ages. 14 and under, please bring an adult with you!
We need only 1-2 volunteers per shift. Families (up to 5) are welcome to volunteer together but please specify this when you sign up. If you're part of a larger group, please email me at satina@sciencespectrum.org to reserve specific days for your group to volunteer!
