Literacy Lubbock is all about improving literacy in the community--so where better to start than with children?
Do you have discarded children's books cluttering up your shelf space? Or maybe you bought that latest YA novel but aren't that interested in reading it anymore? Maybe your child has outgrown their early learners books and now you aren't sure what to do with them?
Literacy Lubbock needs those books! We're holding a drive through the month of December for any new or slightly used children's books, ranging from early readers through YA preteens. All the donated books will be taken to Buckner's Children's Home for their Valentine's Party in February.
Donated books can be brought to the Mahon Public Library, to the donation box up on the second floor near the Literacy Lubbock offices. And for those businesses willing to donate, we can work out transportation details if you can't manage to get them here. And if you don't have any books but would still like to help out, monetary donations are always welcome. We will take the funds and go book shopping prior to the party.
Help us spread a little love this February by gifting new stories to the children over at Buckner's. And help us overcome illiteracy--one person at a time.
