NAMI Lubbock is seeking Family to Family Teachers. This is volunteer position and helps to facilitate an 8-week training course of NAMI’s program called Family to Family. You can learn more about the Family to Family class at https://namitexas.org/family-to-family/.
NAMI Lubbock is the Lubbock Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness which provides support, education, and advocacy for people living with a mental illness and their family and friends. NAMI Lubbock operates as a “Model B” affiliate under the umbrella of NAMI Texas.
Qualifications for teachers:
- Prospective teachers must be family members (parents, siblings, adult children, spouses or partners) of a person with a mental health condition.
- Facilitators must be a NAMI member before training.
- Prospective teachers will attend a weekend long training in order to be trained in how to teach the family to family class.
As a requirement for this role, the interested individual MUST attend at least two NAMI family-to-family classes before undergoing training to be a facilitator. NAMI Family-to-Family class dates are available on the website here https://namilubbock.org/calendar/. After the individual is trained to be a facilitator, the ongoing monthly commitment would be to co-teach a Family to Family class. This class last 8 weeks, but only meetings 1 time per week for 1.5 hours each time.
