We are seeking adult volunteers to assist with the Summer Inter-Program Adults event by helping organize clothing donations, supporting guests in the clothing closet, sorting items, and creating a welcoming and positive environment for community members. Volunteers will play an important role in serving individuals and families in need while making a meaningful impact in the Lubbock community.

All volunteers working around youth or children must successfully pass a background check before participating. The safety of our youth is a top priority.

The following behaviors or history will not be accepted when working with children or youth participants:

No experience is required to volunteer — we simply ask for individuals who are dependable, respectful, positive role models, and committed to creating a safe environment for all participants.

CIS Roberts Elementary will be hosting a Mobile Food Market in partnership with the South Plains Food Bank on Monday, June 8th from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Volunteers are needed to assist with coordination, loading, and unloading during the event. 806ServeFest is a free, come-and-go festival where serving the community meets music, food, and fun for all ages. We need volunteers to help with setup, event operations, and cleanup throughout the day. Come volunteer, then stay and enjoy the festival!

Bring the family, grab a bite from a food truck, enjoy live music, and jump into simple hands-on projects that make a difference right here in Lubbock. You can also meet local nonprofits and discover new ways to stay connected long after the festival ends.

Volunteer shifts include:

• Setup Crew (8:00 AM – 10:00 AM)
Help transform the space before the event begins by assisting with signage, seating areas, kids zone setup, project tents, vendor support, and event preparation.

• Morning Event Crew (9:30 AM – 12:00 PM)
Support festival operations during the first half of the event by helping with welcome tables, project tents, drinks, kids activities, face painting, and guest support.

• Afternoon Event Crew (11:30 AM – 2:00 PM)
Help keep the event running smoothly during peak attendance by supporting activities, restocking supplies, assisting guests, and maintaining event spaces.

• Cleanup Crew (1:45 PM – 4:00 PM)
Assist with trash pickup, signage removal, seating breakdown, supply organization, and helping return the event space to normal after the festival ends.

Volunteers will receive:
-Coffee + donuts in the morning
-Pizza in the afternoon
-Free water, soft drinks, and snacks throughout the day

-Free volunteer t-shirt
-An opportunity to be part of an exciting community event in the heart of downtown Lubbock

A monthly outreach, on the first Thursday of each month:  a resource event providing on-site services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Bringing together in one place service providers, community organizations, and volunteers to meet people where they are.

Table-hosts and Connectors (help assess needs, act as a guide or escort for each individual/family to connect them to appropriate providers at the event); set up/clean up, meal servers needed.  CommUNITY Dayis a great volunteer opportunity for groups (business, church, friends, family) and individuals.  

Challenger Little League is seeking volunteer coaches who have a heart for working with children and individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. This league is about inclusion, encouragement, and joy, using baseball as the vehicle to build confidence, friendships, and unforgettable experiences.

You don’t need to be a baseball expert—a basic understanding of the game, patience, and a positive attitude are what matter most. Coaches help guide practices and games, celebrate every success, and ensure each player feels supported and included on the field.

Who We’re Looking For:

If you’re passionate about making a difference and believe everyone deserves a chance to play, this volunteer role is for you.

Youth recruiter: Develop and implement strategies to attract and enroll youth in programs, which can include marketing, community outreach, and building relationships with schools and community organizations.

The South Plains food bank is REALLY needing Saturday volunteers! Please use the link to sign up - they only have 12 people signed up so far.

○ Participating in events and potentially collaborating with others

The Salvation Army has a couple of volunteer needs in their Thrift Store in Plainview. They are needing volunteers to help with various things throughout the store. They are also needing volunteers in their clothing closet donation center in Lubbock.

We are in need of volunteers to help staff our Family Rooms at Covenant Children's Hospital and UMC

Our family rooms are an extension of our house, with one located inside each hospital. Here families can use this space to rest and recharge, steps away from their child's bedside. Families are provided with snacks, and a quiet, peaceful environment with shower and laundry facilities. We depend on our volunteers to keep these rooms open, so families may have access to it when needed.

Volunteer drivers, both regular and substitute, are needed each weekday to deliver meals. You do not need to commit to a set schedule to volunteer for LMOW. Some drivers prefer to take the same route on the same day each week whereas others prefer to just substitute when needed. For many of our clients, the LMOW volunteer may be the only person they see during the day. That daily human contact is just as important as the nutritious meal they are receiving. Each route takes approximately 1 hour to deliver. Most routes have 10 – 16 clients. A background check and one hour orientation is required for all delivery volunteers.
