Description

It's that time of year again. Well it's always that time of year for me in the individuals are like-minded and the sense of working towards racial equality and spreading awareness of the history, culture, and what could be the future for BIPOC individuals. This time last year, I was working on planning the Juneteenth 2020 celebration with my friend Alexis W. and a host of amazing, I mean AMAZING volunteers. And now this time this year we're doing the same. For the past few months at East Lubbock Art House, we've been planning for the upcoming event Freedom Festival. We've been working towards getting performers, vendors, volunteers, individuals to speak about Juneteenth and what it means to them, and so much more. This time last year we officially became a nonprofit on Juneteenth. We weren't aware because they were working so hard, but now we want to celebrate a year filled with hard work, challenges, crazy projects, and connecting artists and activists in an area that most people wouldn't expect an art gallery to be.

So we want to invite you all to attend Freedom Festival on June 17th (5 PM-10 PM) and 18th (11 AM - 5 PM) at East Lubbock Art House! To put it short and plainly Freedom Festival will be an event for all ages and all demographics. And like the late Fred Hampton envisioned, we want this to be a Rainbow Coalition. This is an event for everyone to celebrate what freedom is and to honor Black liberation. There will be 15 performances, 30+ vendors, Taste Buds Food Co., MOJO's, and Domino's Pizza, Face Painting, Tie-dye, a pop-up Car Show, visual art, arts, and crafts, cash bar, and door prizes .

We are still in need of donations to reach our goal of $10,000. We raised almost $8,000 at A Walk to End Racism so we know THIS IS AN ATTAINABLE GOAL! You may donate via Venmo: eastlubbockarthouse, CashApp: $eastlubbockarthouse, PayPal.me/eastlubbockarthouse, or by mailing a check to East Lubbock Art House, 405 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Suite B, Lubbock, TX 79403.

You may also donate to our GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/add7f706

This is a free event, so we ask that if you can, please donate to support the event! If you would like to volunteer as well please reply back to this email. We will continue to update you update on the specifics of the event and everything taking place!
