Who We Are

The SPKF is the leading health organization in this area, dedicated to the issues of all renal diseases related to the kidney and urinary tract. SPKF helps conduct professional education programs, patient and community services, and public education, while supporting research and organ donation. The group consists of physicians, medical professionals, patients, and their family members. 

The mission of the South Plains Kidney Foundation of West Texas (SPKF) is to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of patients and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.

What We Do

SPKF directly serves the patients in the West Texas area that are on dialysis or are in need of a transplant. Over the past few years, we have been able to assist with the following:

  • SPKF Patient Assistance Fund - Provides financial help to needy patients. We have been able to help patients with $25,000 worth of assistance. Primary assistance given for: Transportation vouchers to and from dialysis, nutritional supplements, gift cards for food, medication assistance, and emergency utility/rent assistance.

Yearly events help to provide education and awareness, which currently include the following:

  • SPKF Medical Symposium – This annual event helps to educate and bring together the professionals that work with kidney disease on a daily basis.
  • Kidney Splash Fest Fundraiser – This annual event helps bring awareness and education to the community, adults and children.
  • SPKF Patient Symposium – This annual event helps to educate patients, their families, and the public regarding kidney disease and prevention.
  • West Texas Dialysis and Transplant Support Group – This support group meets quarterly to help bring support and education to CKD and ESRD patients and family in the West Texas Area.
