Who We Are

Mission: To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Founded in London in 1865, The Salvation Army quickly circled the globe — going into the streets to minister to the poor and destitute — and now serves in over 132 countries. Over the next several decades, The Salvation Army grew rapidly. Programs evolved to meet changing needs, but remained focused on “Sharing God’s love by serving others.”

What We Do

The Salvation Army provides food, shelter, counseling and other physical, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual aid, given on the basis of need, available resources and established program policies. The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in 1865 in London, England, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for 126 years in the United States. 82 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in 5,000 communities nationwide. In the event of a disaster, 100 percent of the donations raised go toward relief efforts. For more information about The Salvation Army, please visit www.salvationarmylubbock.org
