Who We Are

The main project of Community Partners of Lubbock is the Rainbow Room, an emergency resource center located at CPS. The Rainbow Room is stocked with new items (diapers, formula, clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, etc.) for children ages newborn to 18. We rely 100% on the community for donated items. The room is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by caseworkers. The items can be used during a child removal and we can provide on-going services to children in relative placements and family-based services.

What We Do

Community Partners of Lubbock is an agency committed to linking community projects, programs, and volunteers with Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers to enable those caseworkers to better serve children and families involved with CPS. Sensing the need to develop a resource for the rising number of children being placed in the foster care system under emergency situations, the Junior League of Lubbock collaborated with Child Protective Services (CPS) in 1997 to form Community Partners of Lubbock, a 501(c)(3) organization. Through the donation of volunteer placements and funds, the Junior League initiated a program modeled after similar successful programs in other cities. The Rainbow Room, completed in April 1998, was stocked with a supply of new essential items frequently needed for CPS children and families in emergencies. The Rainbow Room supplies were either donated directly or purchased new by the Junior League of Lubbock. In January 2010, the Rainbow Room was relocated to the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) office building at 1103 MLK Blvd. The move from the Children’s Advocacy Center facilitated the increasing demands for CPS caseworkers to have 24-hour access to the Rainbow Room’s items and supplies.
