Who We Are
The non-profit was formed in 2018 by a local attorney that was raised in Lubbock, Texas and knows the community. We provide assistance and raise awareness to communities through nutritional, health, well-being, cultural activities, and sports programs in under privileged neighborhoods. We work with other local community leaders to make sure that certain populations have access to an active and healthy social life.
What We Do
Manos Unidas (MULCC) is a grassroots organization powered by leaders who were raised in and continue to serve the six Lubbock zip codes most impacted by crime and poverty. We are a team of passionate advocates with lived experience, dedicated to decreasing alcohol and marijuana use among our youth through education, advocacy, and action.
We address the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) that contribute to substance use while educating our community on the real-world legal and physical consequences of these behaviors.
Our Primary Objectives: Building a robust, multi-sector network of community stakeholders to protect our youth. Lowering use rates by addressing local risk factors—such as trauma and peer pressure—while promoting protective factors that foster resilience.
By utilizing evidence-based practices and deep-rooted community partnerships, we strengthen Lubbock's ability to address youth substance use through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and proactive outreach.
In 2025, MULCC participated in over 60 community activities, proving that we are "on the ground" where it matters most. Distributed vital prevention information at over 25 school and community meetings. Led over 20 educational sessions aimed at breaking the stigma associated with substance use disorders.
From Health Fairs and 5K Races to cultural staples like Pancho Clos, Trunk-n-Treats, and Back-to-School events, MULCC provides safe, high-energy, drug-free social events that promote positive social norms for our youth. Our signature events include: Youth Bingo Nights & Ice Cream Socials,"Mocktails and Painting" Creative Sessions,Pumpkin Carving Parties & Holiday Programs.
These coordinated strategies support national priorities to promote healthy youth development and prevent substance misuse before it begins. Together, we are building a safer, healthier, and stronger Lubbock.
Our coalition is made up of dedicated community members, parents, and leaders who are committed to creating a safer, drug-free Lubbock. We launched with 12 founding members and grown to 31 active coalition members. We are always looking for more coalition members to join, volunteers for our events and youth coalition members.
