Education interns will assist with special events, birthday parties, and develop floor programs for the museum. Help us execute invents including the Solar Eclipse Viewing Party! Interns will also help with our Summer Science Camps! You will provide assistance in the classroom with educational activities and programs that range in topics from flight and rocketry, robotics, the Amazon, and much more! Interns can even help to develop classroom curriculum.

Volunteer: Mentors for After-school Program for the upcoming school year, 2017-18

Like teaching or helping kids? Need volunteer hours?

Harmony Science Academy Lubbock is seeking volunteers to mentor our students during our after-school care program throughout the week! The program has students ranging in age from Pre-K through 8th grades. Activities you can help with may include mentoring students with their homework, playing board & card games with them or reading with them. You can also do this as an organization if your student organization needs community service as well!

The days of the week we need the most help are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and the time is 3:45 - 4:45 PM. Since we dismiss at 3:45 PM, we ask that you plan to check-in with the front office a few minutes before. Feel free to come help on Wednesdays (computers) & Fridays (movie day) as well! Our maximum number per day is around 5 volunteers. We will keep track of the hours you volunteer and can issue an official letter of service reflecting your total hours when your time is over.

Our school does not provide transportation for students, so they cannot be taken to after school programs like the Boys & Girls Club. This makes it hard on working parents who have to leave work early or make arrangements to for someone to pick up their students at 3:45. With limited resources and the majority of our students coming from lower socio-economic backgrounds, our school is not able to offer wide-spread after-school care.

You must pass a background check and state-issued license, so please plan to come in and fill out your paperwork about one week before you are wanting to begin volunteering. Any help is greatly appreciated! For more information, to discuss opportunities or to visit our campus, please email us!

**Our new school year begins on Monday, August 21st! We anticipate having volunteers begin as early as Monday, September 11th!
