Broadway Festivals, Inc. (“BFI”) is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to organize, conduct and finance downtown celebrations to focus attention on the historical significance and overall importance of the central core of Lubbock, Texas. Presently, BFI sponsors the 4th on Broadway Celebration, held each Independence Day. In the past, BFI helped found the Buddy Holly Music Festival, the Lights in the Canyon Holiday Festival, Lights on Broadway Holiday Celebration and the 4th Corps Youth Program. Broadway Festivals, Inc. was developed out of the very successful 4th on Broadway Celebration originally established by the Committee of Churches in 1990.
BFI’s events are open to the public and have an estimated 100,000+ attendance from Lubbock and the surrounding communities. Through its events BFI strives to offer entertainment for everyone and to showcase the unique culture that makes Lubbock an exceptional place to live.
The mission of BFI is "to enhance the quality of life and embrace the unique history, heritage and culture for all citizens of Lubbock and the Llano Estacado region by promoting the arts and tourism while contributing to the area's economic vitality."
The 26th annual 4th on Broadway Celebration will be held over the three day holiday weekend on July 2-4, 2016 in Mackenzie Park and the Lubbock County Courthouse Square. This signature event showcases the region's cultural richness to the greater Lubbock trade area spanning a 200-mile radius including portions of eastern New Mexico and western Oklahoma.
The 2016 event will build on its tradition of displaying exceptional artistry by once again showcasing local and regional performers in a multiple-day event attracting in excess of 100,000 people. As in years past, the event will include a street dance featuring Texas Country artists, a street dance for the Hispanic community featuring Tejano artists, a fun run for all ages, a parade with over 100 floats, a picnic in the park, a massive kid's area with something for everyone, and an evening concert with a massive fireworks extravaganza.
