American Cancer Society

Who We Are

You may know us for our Cattle Baron's Ball or Relay For Life events, but there is so much more to your American Cancer Society!

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. We have a presence both locally and nationally and are leaders in the global fight against cancer.

If you have cancer, we can help. And if you have a passion for eliminating cancer, we need YOUR help.

What We Do

More than 1,100 Lubbock County residents are expected to be diagnosed with cancer this year.

Approximately 8,500 people in Lubbock County are cancer survivors.

Last year we provided more than 900 services to cancer patients in Lubbock County - no other organization serves more local patients than the American Cancer Society.

Our Relay For Life honors more than 500 cancer Survivors and Caregivers.

Cattle Baron’s Ball empowers more than 1,200 business and community leaders in Lubbock to take a stand against the fight.

Hope Lodge Lubbock has saved patients on the South Plains and Eastern New Mexico more than $3 million in lodging costs since 2010.

From advocacy to research to education to patient services, we help people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back. 100 years ago 1 out of 3 people diagnosed with cancer survived. Today that number is 2 out of 3. Let's make it 3 out of 3. Join us to finish the fight.
